The lobe is a blob with a bite

Rebuilt on the construction the sketch shows: a solid shape sitting off-centre, with a circular bite where the middle goes. Two of them 180° apart leave the void the disc nests in — and the bite being bigger than the disc is the halo. The axis is the blob’s own silhouette: faceted, blocky, squircle, round, egg.
